M11 Ickleton – Progress update and further weekend road closure

Tuesday, 1 December 2020

I’m delighted to say that our work to repair the concrete road surface on the M11 junction 9 to 9a has progressed well.

During the road closures last weekend we managed to complete a significant proportion of the project, replacing 28 damaged concrete sections, which was quite an achievement. Work to carry out other repairs and maintenance has continued overnight throughout the week..

Originally we had participated just having to make one weekend road closure to complete our repairs. I am writing to let you know that unfortunately we are now planning a further weekend closure from 8pm on Friday 4 December until 6am on Monday 7 December.

By closing the road over an additional weekend, we can take the opportunity to replace extra concrete sections that we have spotted are showing signs of deterioration, helping the road to remain in better condition for longer. We will replace the worn white lining and missing or damaged road studs (cat’s eyes). This extra weekend closure will mean we will need to do less overnight weekday closures.

Thank you for your ongoing patience whilst we complete these important repairs. Please see the right of this news item for photos of the repairs being carried out.
