Amore - Music of love for a spring evening
Saturday, 15 March 2014 6:30 pm - Wednesday, 31 December 1969 7:00 pm
COLLEGIUM MUSICUM OF LONDON - LONDON'S LIVELIEST CHAMBER CHOIR is the special guest choir at this one-off fundraising event. The choir has a regular membership of around 28 singers and is based in Clerkenwell, Central London. The choir's special series of concerts, of which AMORE is the latest, have proved very popular with audiences and singers alike, and this year will be performed in Clerkenwell, Central London and Bourn in Cambridgeshire.
A programme of acappella choral music, AMORE presents songs of love from down the centuries - celebrating the bitter-sweet nature of romantic yearning - includes traditional folksongs, courtly madrigals, romantic part-songs and twentieth century popular classics - something for everyone! Music by Purcell, Monteverdi, Lassus, Elgar, Whitacre and Irving Berlin...
The choir focuses naturally on a capella repertoire and works accompanied by professional instrumental chamber groups and soloists. Its repertoire encompasses sacred music of the Renaissance and Baroque periods, as well as music of the 19th Century and greater secular works of the last 100 years.
Greg Morris, Conductor, was appointed the Musiscal Director of Collegium Musicum of London in 2012. As Associate Organist of the Temple Church in London (since 2006), he accompanies the acclaimed Temple Church Choir - described recently by Gramophone Magazine as 'among the very best' - and has appeared with them on BBC Radio 3 and on CD recordings. As a recitalist, Greg regularly performs at major venues throughout the UK and Europe, including BBC Proms and in Notre Dame de Paris.
Tickets £15 include a glass of fizz and canapes. There are also concessionary tickets available £10 for students/pensioners/disabled, which also include a glass of fizz and canapes. Tickets are available online, locally, in Bourn Village Shop and possibly on the door - if space allows. There are group discounts for Groups of 5 or more booking at one time.
A choir very much on top of its game and a glittering array of top-notch soloists delivered a night to remember! http://www.coll-mus-lon.org.uk/
