10th Anniversary Abington 10K & Fun Run 2014

Sunday, 5 October 2014 10:30 am

We are a licenced race in support of our school's PTFA, which is a registered charity.  We have an experienced organising team, great marshals, obviously our beautiful village setting, and a fantastic cake stall at the finish!  Our 10K brings in a wonderful mix of serious athletes and first time long distance runners from the community.  Our 2K is great for all the family - walk, run, skip, bring a pushchair, or wear a costume!  It's all good and very fun.  We hope you will join us.

2014 will be our 10th Anniversary! Following feedback in 2013 from the UK Athletics Event Adjudicator, we have rerouted the 10K at Chalky Road/Pampisford Road to make the course safer (see map). The section of Pampisford Road from Granta Park to the High Street will be professionally closed from 10am-1pm during the 10K race, and the race will come down Cutting Road instead of through the pedestrian access across from the top of the High Street.

We hope to make any community disruption minimal, and appreciate your support for (and patience with!) this event.  It is the biggest single fundraising event of the year for our primary school, with funds in the past paying for new playground land, the pool replacement, and educational trips and materials.  The preschool, which has this year received it's highly anticipated 'outstanding' status from Ofsted, also benefits hugely from their very popular cake stall!
