Park & Ride at Abington?

Thursday, 13 June 2019

The Greater Cambridge Partnership (GCP) is working on improvements to the A1307 and other transport aspects of the South-East approach to Cambridge. A number of smaller works have already bveen undertaken and more are planned.

A major proposal is for a dedciated public transport route, based on the 'strategy 1' from the preovious pubic consulataion. The plans include an additional Park and Ride site near Fourwentways, with one option sited at the end of the Cambridge Road, Abington. The car park for 2000 cars may be built on the fields as you leave the village on the A1307, towards the Fourwentways roundabout and Cambridge. Two other sites for the new Park and Ride, closer to Babraham, are also being considered.

There was an open, public meeting hosted by the GCP at Homerton College on Tuesday, 4 June 2019. Following this, the plans will be discussed by the Joint Assembly and Execurtive Board in June, After further work and consulatation, there will be a further public consultation in the authumn. All being well, work could start in 2020.
